Specialized electromagnetic compatibility laboratory to be built in IP Sofia-Bozhurishte
A new hi-tech investment worth EUR 2.5 million will be realized in the Industrial Park Sofia-Bozhurishte. The investment project involves the construction of specialized infrastructure and the installation of high-tech equipment for measuring electromagnetic emissions and immunity. The laboratory will handle the acceptance and registration of products for testing, conduct tests in a specialized shielded anechoic chamber of the “Faraday cage” type, process and analyse results using specialized software, and prepare test reports and certificates of conformity. Seven new highly skilled jobs will be created.
The laboratory will serve a wide range of industries, including automotive, consumer electronics, medical equipment, defense and aerospace, information technology, and telecommunications. The project involves the construction of Bulgaria’s first comprehensive EMC laboratory, capable of certifying various types of products in accordance with international standards.
In Europe function about 500 such laboratories, with only about 50 of them having the capacity to provide comprehensive certification for all types of products. In Bulgaria at the moment exist only 4 electromagnetic compatibility laboratories, which are highly specialized in specific fields. The nearest comprehensive laboratory is located in Ljubljana, Slovenia, which forces many manufacturers to conduct their testing abroad.
The realization of the project will contribute the hi-tech ecosystem in Bulgaria, will support manufacturing sector with high added-value services and will create conditions for attracting new investors in the industrial park through collaboration with present and future to come companies.
The project is another step toward establishing IP Sofia-Bozhurishte as a leading centre for innovation, hi-tech manufacturing and industrial development in the region.
